The assignment of a lease is the transfer of an existing lease by the current tenant to a new tenant with the landlord’s consent. Each party will require independent legal advice and we have vast experience of acting for the assignor, assignee, or landlord in these matters.

A tenant may wish to sublet if it is unable to assign part only of its property. To be able to sublet a commercial property (also known as underletting), the consent of the landlord is required. This is usually documented in a formal licence to sublet. It is important to ensure you fully understand your rights and obligations before entering into a licence to sublet and our highly regarded team can walk you through each step whilst minimising any potential risks
