Private Landlords Need to be aware of changes
Private landlords need to be aware of some important changes which are coming into effect from 1st October 2015. These particularly affect the termination of assured shorthold tenancies. Until these Regulations, landlords will have been used to a fairly straightforward procedure.
Unfortunately from the landlord’s point of view, from 1st October, things will be a little more complex when it comes to evicting a tenant. There is a new prescribed form of two-month Notice which must be used. In addition, if this procedure is going to be used, a landlord must have provided tenancies with an energy performance certificate, a gas safety certificate and also a copy of the Department for Communities and Local Governments booklet entitled ‘How to Rent: The Checklist for Renting in England’.
