Experience & Background
Murray Walker joined Spire Solicitors LLP in July 2019 as Head of Compliance.
Originally, he trained as a barrister and was called to the Bar in 1985. However, his career journey took him straight into ‘the City’ where he began to specialise in risk and compliance – which he has done ever since, with over 20 years in financial services and more recently 15 years in legal services.
Murray’s aim at Spire is to build on the foundations laid to date, and help shape and reinforce a culture that embodies risk and compliance at its core and maintains a focus on the delivery of great client service.
His approach is to:
- Translate the technical into the doable, for everyday use by colleagues;
- Work with them to maintain compliance with relevant laws, regulations and professional standards; and
- Support the ongoing development of internal systems and controls which assist with risk management.
Outside of work, Murray enjoys time with his family; current affairs, reading, gardening, cooking at weekends and the occasional trip to the theatre.
