Spire Solicitors Announces New Members to the Membership

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Protima Sikdar-Wood and Howard Bailey as Members of Spire Solicitors LLP (Spire) on the 1st of January 2023.

Howard and Protima have been partners within Spire’s commercial property team (Protima is the head of the department) and both have been pivotal to the successful growth of that department.  They will bring their experience, enthusiasm and in-depth legal knowledge to assist in ensuring Spire’s continued growth over the coming years.  They are already well known for their effective support of Spire’s commercial clients. Their broad network of professional services advisors and commercial clients adds considerable value to all they assist.  Their success over recent years has contributed to the ever-growing reputation of Spire, one of the best legal services providers within East Anglia.

Spire’s commercial property department’s areas of expertise cover a wide range of transactional work.  This includes advice on development finance and secured lending (a particular specialism of Protima), as well as acting for landlords and tenants in connection with their leases of retail, industrial and office units. They also have a particular interest in development projects, acting for developments involving a wide variety of sites and stakeholders (a particular specialism of Howard).

The department has a strong track record in advising charities on the acquisition and disposal of freehold and leasehold property. It has extremely effective links with Spire’s corporate and commercial team supporting the acquisition and disposal of businesses.

Commenting on the appointment, Carl Heywood, Senior Partner at Spire said:

We are excited to welcome Protima and Howard as Members of Spire.  This is an exciting time for Spire as we look at new opportunities in what is the tenth year since Spire was established following the merger of 3 historic Norfolk firms.

Both Howard and Protima have a proven track record in their practice areas and have been instrumental in shaping and delivering an extremely successful client focused and commercially driven team. There is no doubt that they have a key role to play in the future of Spire and their strategic vision is essential to ensure that Spire continues to meet the ever-evolving needs of our diverse range of clients.  Speaking on behalf of the existing Members of Spire, we look forward to working with them as Spire continues to grow.

I am delighted to become a Member of Spire. I echo the comments made by Protima and I am looking forward to getting involved with the leadership of the business in the months and years to come. Protima and I joined the firm at a similar time and have always worked closely together. This is one of the reasons why I’m so pleased to be joining the membership with her.
